Russia undefeated in Channel One Cup

The home team won all three games in Sochi to end on top of the season's second Euro Hockey Tour tournament.

 
 
 
 

On the last day of Channel One Cup Russia beat Czech Republic 3-2 in Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi to go through the home tournament undefeated.

Alexander Kutuzov and Igor Grigorenko scored for Russia in the first period. Yegor Yakovlev made it 3-0 at 4:21 of the second period but after that Jakub Kovar kept the net clean. The Czechs scored two goals - Jan Kovar at 31:06 and Erik Hrna at 47:38 - bet were never able to tie it.

On Saturday Russia beat Sweden - also by the score 3-2. Sweden was in a 2-1 lead after half the game but Ilya Kovalchuk stepped up and scored twice to turn it to a win.

Finland got a shootout win over Sweden on Sunday. Sakari Salminen got the winning shot.

Top scorer of the tournament was the Swedish defenseman Patrik Hersley who got three goals - two against Czech Republic and one against Russia. He then added two assists against Finland.
