There were no questions about which team was the better one in the opening game between Team Canada and Team USA today. Canada started the game in an aggressive way and created some good opportunities, but USA's keeper Keith Kinkaid stood ground.

Both teams had a powerplay opportunity in the beginning of first period. Though there was some dangerous chances by both teams, USA were the team to take the lead. Patrick Maroon put the go ahead goal for USA after 04:54 after some chaos in front of Cam Talbot in the net.

Canadas' Taylor Hall scored the equalizer just 30 seconds after, when he got a great assist from Derick Brassard. After Halls' goal, Canada took over the game and showed why they're the reigning champions. Matt Duchene, Brendan Gallagher, Boone Jenner and Brad Marchand was Canadas' goalscorers.

USA's Matt Hendricks wasn't happy after the defeat: -"We’ve got to fix some things in the defensive zone. Our structure broke down too many times tonight and gave them too many opportunities. A team with that type of high-end skill, they’re going to find the back of the net," he said afterwards.

Canadas Boone Jenner was pleased and said after the opening game: -"It was a good start for us. Hopefully as the tournament goes on, we’ll get better and better."
