Solid Russian win over Slovakia

Russia beat Slovakia 4-0 to stay in the race with Sweden for the top spot in Group A.

Maxim Mamin and Nikita Gusev scored in the first period before Maxim Shalunov and Ilya Mikheyev added empty-netters towards the end when Russia earned a comfortable 4-0 win over Slovakia.

Russia is one point behind Sweden at the top of the Group A standings. The two teams play each other tomorrow on the last day of the group stage.

Following the loss it will be hard for Slovakia to reach the quarter finals. A win against already relegated Belarus in the last game won't be enough if Switzerland beats France.
