Despite a modest career as coach, American Tom Rowe was chosen to lead Lokomotiv in KHL comeback

Current Carolina Hurricanes scout Tom Rowe has become the new coach of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl for its return to the KHL. After a brilliant career in NHL as right wing - he was the first U.S.-born NHL player to score more than thirty goals in a season, for the Washington Capitals in 1978-79 and represented US at IHWC in 1977 - 55-year-old Lynn, Massachusetts native Tom Rowe didn't reach same success behind the bench: as head-coach he lead Lowell Lock Monsters and Albany Devils in AHL with a second Playoffs Round reached in 2004-05 as best result. From 2008 to 2010 Rowe was Carolina Hurricanes assistant-coach and he served as pro scout in 2011-2012 season. Rowe’s assistant will be Dmitry Yushkevich, who spent five seasons at Lokomotiv as a player and has been Sibir Novosibirsk’s assistant coach since 2010.
