Despite heavy economic trouble with the club doing an financial reconstruction during the season Leksand won Sweden's second league Hockeyallsvenskan. They were six points ahead of Södertälje and another five points ahead of Västerås. All those three teams are qualified for Kvalserien were six teams will play for two spots in Sweden's top league, Elitserien, next year. The other three teams will be Rögle and Timrå from Elitserien and one more qualifier from Hockeyallsvenskan.

The teams placed 4-7 will play in a playoff group for the last spot in Kvalserien. Those four teams are BIK Karlskoga, Djurgården, Örebro and Oskarshamn. Djurgården being a big dissappointment not placing better than fifth. The classic club from Stockholm was surprisingly relegated last year and fans expected to be at top of Hockeyallsvenskan but after a terrible start of the season they even missed out on top three. The teams will bring bonus points to the playoff round based on the position in the regular season standings.

Mora missed the playoff with one point and was perhaps one of the clubs that suffered most when NHL players left when the lockout ended. Anze Kopitar scored 34 points in 31 games before he left. Big Malmö Redhawks had another bad year and missed out on top seven once again. Troja/Ljungby also finished in no mans land.

In the bottom of the table Almtuna avoided the relegation round to division 1 by taking one point away to Södertälje in the last round sending Tingsryd to the relegation round together with newcomer Karlskrona who last, 19 points behind Tingsryd. The other newly promoted team Asplöven finished in eleventh place. Tingsryd and Karlskrona will play four teams from Division 1 for two spots in Hockeyallsvenskan next year.

Individually the league was dominated by foreign players, besides some high class lockout players joining the league, the top six in scoring were all foreigners. Jared Aulin, Örebro was best with 50 points in 48 games before Evan McGrath with 49. Damien Fleury was the best goal scorer with 29 goals, seven of them game winning. One of the best Swedes were junior Pontus Åberg who didn't play the World Juniors but made 40 points in Hockeyallsvenskan.

Best goalie stats had Lars Johansson, Västerås with a impressive 1.88 GAA and 93.68 save percentages. Or one goalie actually had better stats but he only played 12 games, Viktor Fasth had 1.68 GAA and 94.17 save percentage before going back to a success in Anaheim. That effort didn't help Tingryd to avoid the relegation round.
