All Change in the Eihl

All Change in the Eihl

Rosters are changed throughout ice hockey for several reasons: the player didn’t settle well in a new country, he was deemed not to be a good fit for the team etc etc. So this is not just unique to the EIHL but this is the league we are concentrating on today.

Since the league began in September there have been various comings and goings apart from the ones mentioned in other articles.

The busiest team in this respect has been the Nottingham Panthers. They addressed early season woes by at first signing forward Jake Hansen from Slovakia, he had short spell in the EIHL with Coventry Blaze last season picking up six goals. A week later (28th October) they secured the services of Julian Talbot from Eispiraten in the DEL 2. Sheffield Steelers fans will be hoping he doesn’t set the league alight as his brother Joey did 10 years ago.

Their most recent signing was that of Ryan Horvat, a left winger from Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.

To make way for these three: Mark Hurtubise, Jens Jakobs and William Quist left for various reasons.

Glasgow Clan have also been busy; just a few days ago they signed Chad Smith, a youngster from Scotland, who decided his future lay with them and not his previous club, Fife Flyers. They then brought in Canadian forward Scott Jacklin from Chamonix in France.

To tidy things up on the transfer front Shaone Morrison former NHL and KHL defenceman, signed for Cardiff Devils in early November and Manchester Storm enlisted the services of Henrik Samuelsson, the dual USA/Finland winger signed from Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.
