Canada and Finland won close games on the third day of the World Under-18 Championship in Frisco, Texas.

Latvia was not far from a huge upset against Canada at the U18 Worlds. Karlis Mezsargs kept the net clean for 27:58 before Logan Stankoven finally could beat him. Mason McTavish made it 2-0 a couple of minutes later but Latvia didn't give up. Anri Ravinskis scored 2-1 in the final minute of the middle act. Latvia got an early powerplay opportunity in the third period but failed to tie the game. Instead Dylan Guenther made it 3-1 for Canada. On the next Latvian man advantage they got the goal though. Sandis Vilmanis was the scorer. Latvia hoped for the equalizer but when they got a team penalty for too many players on the ice at 59:07 it didn't take long for McTavish to make it 4-2 with his second goal of the game.

Finland got their second win of the tournament by beating Czech Republic 6-5. But the game didn't start well for the Finns. After four minutes they were already down 2-0. About 20 minutes later they had tied it and also taken the lead, but then it was Czech Republic's turn to score three unanswered goals for a 5-3 lead. Finland however managed to score three powerplay goals in the final 8 minutes to win it 6-5.
