Cracovia take its revenge

Defeated in the semifinal round in November, Cracovia Krakow beats Saryarka in the opening match of the Continental Cup Superfinals

Danish city of Aalborg hosts the Continental Cup Superfinals, postponed to January due to Covid and played by only three teams, due to the absence of the HK Gomel, after the suspension of the Russian and Belarusian federations decided by the IIHF.
Cracow, supported by a good number of fans,  and Saryarka Karaganda take the ice in the opening day. The two teams had already battles in the semifinal round last November in Krakow, when the Kazakhs won 2-0.
After four minutes, Saryarka breaks the deadlock, with the goal of Mikhail Rakhmanov, well assisted by top scorer Nikita Anokhovski, but with a clear error by the Polish defense, which leaves him alone in front of the goalie.
As happened in November, the game is very tactical, with few chances on either side.

In the middle period the first emotion comes after 4 minutes, when Sayan Danyar hits the post after an inaccurate intervention by Perevozchikov. One minute later the first real chance for Krakow, with a shot from Damian Kapica saved by Shutov. The Poles seem more aggressive during this period and the new attitude pays off: the tie goal, scored shorthanded, comes after a persistent action to recover the puck: Evgeny Soloviev assists compatriot Evgeny Popitich for an easy tap-in. Five minutes from the siren a lethal counterattack leads to the second Polish goal, scored by Jiri Gula, assist by Grigori Mishchenko.

In the last period the Kazakh goalkeeper Shutov must immediately work on Nemec and Dugin, while his team fails to find the second goal, despite bravely removing the goalkeeper with two minutes to play
