China closes a light and dark tournament by beating host Estonia to take bronze medal

China closes its World Championship with a bronze which partially mitigates the disappointment for a certainly underwhelming tournament, which started with a good victory against Ukraine - the only points lost by the yellow-blues up to now - but then saw the defeats against Japan and above all the clamorous one, for the event itself and the score, against the modest Netherlands which put an end to the dreams of fighting for the promotion of coach Greg Ireland's troop, who had presented themselves in Tallinn with a good part of the Olympic roster, centered on that of the Red Star Kunlun, KHL club.

In the last match, China soon closed the question by scoring three goals (to zero) in the first period and then always keeping the hosts at a distance. Estonia has arguably gotten the most out of the tournament, barring their first SO win over lowly Serbia. Hosts soon earned the necessary points to avoid relegation and tried to face stronger teams such as Japan, Ukraine and China on equal terms.
