Hlinka Gretzky Cup - Day 2

Czechia - Germany 7-3

Czechia dominated Germany with a 7-3 victory. Despite an early goal by Germany's Gustavs Griva, Czechia quickly equalized through Adam Benak. Benak scored again to take the lead, and Vit Zahejsky added a power-play goal, ending the first period 3-1. Czechia continued to control the game with goals from Vojtech Cihar, Benak (completing a hat-trick), Tomas Poletin, and Dominik Pavlik. Germany's Dustin Willhöft and David Lewandowski scored, but Czechia's offense proved too strong. Czechia outshot Germany 47-22.

USA - Finland 3-1

The USA secured a solid 3-1 victory over Finland in their Hlinka Gretzky Cup match. The game started with an early lead for the USA, as Chase Jette scored at 08:17, followed by a shorthanded goal from Ben Kevan at 12:03. Finland's Max Westergård narrowed the gap in the second period, but Matthew Lansing sealed the win for the USA with a goal early in the third period.

Switzerland - Sweden 1-12

At the Downtown Community Arena in Edmonton, Sweden decisively defeated Switzerland with a score of 12-1. 

Sweden took a commanding lead, scoring four goals in the first period. Milton Gästrin opened the scoring with a power play goal, followed by goals from Viktor Klingsell, Ivar Stenberg, and Malte Vass within less than a minute. The shot count heavily favored Sweden at 23 to 3.

In the second period Sweden continued their dominance, adding another four goals. Ivar Stenberg scored twice, with Jakob Ihs Wozniak and Milton Gästrin also finding the net. Switzerland managed 9 shots to Sweden's 16.

Sweden sealed their victory with another four goals in the third. Jakob Ihs Wozniak added his second, and Eddie Genborg scored as well. Switzerland's Lucien Lehmann managed to score a power play goal, their only goal of the match. Shots were 16 for Sweden and 7 for Switzerland.

Overall, Sweden outshot Switzerland 55 to 19. Key players for Sweden included Ivar Stenberg with four goals and three assists, and Milton Gästrin with two goals and six assists.

Switzerland's goalie, Jovin Trachsel, faced a relentless Swedish offense, making 43 saves but allowing 12 goals, while Sweden's Love Härenstam had a strong performance with 18 saves on 19 shots.

Slovakia - Canada 1-5

Canada defeated Slovakia with a score of 5-1. The game was characterized by Canada's strong offensive play and Slovakia's inability to capitalize on their opportunities.

Émile Guité scored on a power play for Canada at 51:48, assisted by Gavin McKenna and Matthew Schaefer, making it 4-1. Luca Romano scored his second goal just seven seconds later, finalizing the score at 5-1. Shots were 12 for Canada and 11 for Slovakia in the last period.

Lucas Beckman, the Canadian goalie made 27 saves on 28 shots, achieving a 96.43% save rate.
