New format for Polish League

The top league in Poland, Polska Liga Hokejowa, will be played with eight teams and a new format for the 2011-12 season.

 
 
 
 
Eight teams will compete in the Polish League for the 2011-12 season:

MMKS Podhale Nowy Targ
JKH GKS Jastrzębie
TH Aksam Unia Oświęcim
GKS Tychy
MKS Cracovia SSA Kraków
Zagłębie Sosnowiec
Ciarko PBS Bank Sanok
Nesta Karawela Toruń

The teams will play each other six times in a 42-game regular season. The top four teams from the regular season will qualify for the playoffs, where they will compete for the Polish Championship. The opening game will be played on September 9 between Podhale Nowy Targ and Cracovia Krakow. The first full round of games will be played on September 13.

The last day of the regular season will be February 14. The full schedule of the regular season can be found here. The playoffs will start on February 19.
