Game recap

Manchester Storm scored five unanswered goals in the third period to come from two down and beat Belfast Giants on Wednesday night.

It was defenseman who put the Giants ahead after 20 minutes at the Storm Shelter. Jeff Baum followed up to bat home the rebound off a Matt McLeod breakaway change to make it 1-0 with 12:47 played, a goal given after a quick check to see just how high his stick was. 78 seconds later, Cameron Pound jumped into the play to turn home Blake Speers' pass to net his first professional goal.

Storm had a better period two but without finding the back of Jackson Whistle's net. Callum Fryer and Oliver Cooper dropped the gloves with 62 seconds left in the period to try and fire up their teams for the final 20 minutes.

Fryer certainly got the desired response from his team in period three. Dallas Ehrhardt's shot form the top of the circle beat Jackson Whistle high 28 seconds into the third, and less than two minutes later Joe Morrow beat Whistle from the point to tie the game - both powerplay goals. Storm then went ahead shorthanded - Tyler Hinam turned the puck over on his own blue line and broke down the wing, and after a couple of passes the on-rushing Loren Ulett blasted past Whistle to put Storm ahead at 43:55 - by which point there was also a delayed penalty on the visitors. Cam Critchlow capitalised on a turnover by the Giants in their own zone to shoot on Whistle, and while he saved that the rebound fell to Samuel Tremblay at 51:03 to put Storm two up. Hinam hit the empty net with 2:01 left to round off an excellent comeback win for the hosts.
